It may seem self-explanatory, but to be clear, the name Seven Generations references the number of Skinner generations to call California home begining the inception of our winery in 1861 and when we reclaimed our family's legacy in 2006.  The Skinner family, pioneers during the California Gold Rush, have deep roots in El Dorado County. We honor this history by making a white Rhône blend that is truly unlike any other in the region.  Inspired by the blancs of Saint-Joseph and Hermitage, we aimed to produce a dry, wild wine reminiscent of the Old World.

Tasting Notes
This Marsanne-Roussanne-dominant blend introduces itself with old world charm: flinty and flirty. With some air the nose broadens out with resonant notes of pear, rosewater and slate. Harvested at optimal ripeness, hand-sorted and cold-pressed, followed by elevage sur lees in 500 liter acacia wood vessels, the resulting offering is a dichotomy of sacred seriousness and wednesday night whimsy. Citrusy, lifted floral tones on entry, with a promise of textural depth made good on the mid-palate. This wine's silky, honeyed layers of meyer lemon and devonshire cream sail on through to the finish.
Winemaker's Notes
The 2018 Seven Generations hails from several of our partner vineyards. The 2018 vintage offered a mellow, cool Spring, robust Summer weather and a dry, easygoing harvest season… in other words, a picture-perfect vintage. After hand-harvesting and meticulous cluster sorting, this wine was cold-pressed and fermented in French oak barrels, keeping the varietals separate throughout elevage, with only native yeast cultures. Aged sur lees for 8 months with minimal intervention.
