2018 Petite Sirah, Estate
Truly classic Petite Sirah. Its impenetrable black color suggests an opulent, beautiful monster of a wine. And that it is, but not without offering some transcendent nuance. The nose opens with intense black plum, olives, tar and brandied cherry. Silky on entry boasting palate-coating layers of ripe blackberry, sassafras, peppercorn and quince paste. Well-integrated oak tones and sensible alcohol make for an impeccably balanced expression of an oft overwrought varietal. This wine is begging to be cozied up with you by a roaring fire, pork rillette and crusty bread. Cellar-worthy, 10+ years easily.
