Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
The 2015 Viognier is a balanced wine with ample acidity to offset the palate coating viscosity. It shows aromas of fresh peach, white flowers, and apricots, coupled with subtle nuances of honey, sweet spice, and citrus notes.
Winemaker's Notes
Our Viognier is grown at both of our two estate vineyards. Each site brings something unique, and the combination is always greater than its parts. The White Oak Flats Vineyard offers up fresh acidity and steely citrus notes, while our Stoney Creek Vineyard contributes weight, texture and floral aromatics. In 2015 we used 2/3 hogshead barrels and 1/3 used French oak. The hogsheads are slightly larger than traditional barriques and lend a more subtle oak influence to the wine. The wine sees native yeast fermentation and is aged on its gross lees for about 10 months before being bottled on June 2nd.
