Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
The 2014 offering is reminiscent of our earliest versions in that Roussanne is the primary varietal at 44%. This has produced a wine that is richer on the palate than its predecessor, yet still keeps a vibrant acidity on the finish with the addition of 5% Picpoul Blanc. The aromatics are dominated by Nashi pear, melon, and citrus coupled with notes of honeycomb, white flowers, fresh herbs, sweet spices, and hazelnuts.
Winemaker's Notes
We start out with several lots, some co-fermented, while most varietals are kept separate. We ferment in a combination of stainless steel barrels and French oak (mostly neutral). The wine rests on its gross lees until being blended together at bottling after 9 months in barrel. The resulting wine has been unfined and unfiltered, thus it is common for some sediment to settle to the bottom of the bottle.
