Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
The 2014 Mourvèdre is a delicate and pretty wine with a youthful exuberance. This medium bodied red offers aromatics of dried red fruits like cherry, plum and pomegranate, complemented with savory notes of green olive, yerba santé, dusty roads, and dried herb. The tannins are mild and the acidity is fresh and lingering on the palate.
Winemaker's Notes
The 2014 harvest was the earliest to date due to the dry winter and spring weather associated with the drought that got everything off to a nice early start. The Mourvèdre blocks set an average crop and enjoyed a mild to average growing seasons. In the cellar, the wine is produced with native yeast, minimal sulfur, and is not racked off of its gross lees until being bottled unfined and unfiltered after 10 months in 100% French Oak (10% new). It is sourced from 4 vineyards throughout El Dorado, comprised of various soil types, aspects, and elevations.
