Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
The 2013 harvest was an early one due to the mild spring weather that got everything off to a nice start. The Mourvèdre blocks set an average crop and enjoyed a mild to average growing season, which commenced on September 13th and ended on September 20th for all Mourvèdre sites. In the cellar, the wine is produced with native yeast, minimal sulfur, and is not racked off of its gross lees until being bottled unfined and unfiltered after 11 months in 100% French Oak (14% new). It is sourced from 4 vineyards throughout El Dorado, comprised of various soil types, aspects, and elevations. The 2013 Mourvèdre is a delicate and pretty wine with a youthful exuberance. This medium bodied red offers aromatics of red fruits like cherry, cranberry, and pomegranate, coupled with hints of crushed granite, green olive, potpourri, sagebrush, and dried herbs. The tannins are mild and the acidity is fresh and lingering on the palate.
