Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
This Grenache is a bit more approachable upon release than our inaugural 2012 vintage. It is ruby red in color with aromas of dark cherry, plum, strawberry preserve, wild sage, and fennel. The palate is lush yet restrained with mild tannins, ample acidity and a lingering minerality on its lengthy finish.
Winemaker's Notes
This is the 2nd release of our Estate Grenache. The wine is reflection of the extreme growing conditions and granitic soils of our high elevation (2740’) vineyard. It is comprised of 3 clones from different sources – Ch. Beaucastel clone TCVS C, John Alban’s famous A2 clone, and France’s ENTAV 513 clone. Each clone brings something different to the wine, providing greater complexity and depth. This wine spends 19 months in French oak (25% new) and has been bottled unfined and unfiltered.
